THE BIG RED ADVENTURE - Complete walkthrough

PART ONE

You play as a man named Doug, who professionally handles other people's money. He has just returned from an exhibition at the Moscow museum, where he had the opportunity to admire the crown of Tsar Dreadful.

You start standing in a rented apartment at the Ritz hotel. Begin by opening the envelope and looking at the photos inside. They depict the security systems installed in the museum.

Next, take your laptop and the camera lying next to the TV. Use the remote to turn on the TV. There, you'll hear a promotion for the "Russian Doli Show" program broadcasted by the KGB channel. You'll learn that to participate in this event, you need to fill out a ticket found in the "New Pravda" and send it to the studio address.

Now, take a look at your suitcase. The easiest way to get everything out of it is to put it in your "pocket" and then inspect it. After these steps, you'll have a tape recorder and a measuring tape. Now, also take out the antenna from the TV and head to the concierge desk.

Once downstairs, remove the string serving as a handrail for the stairs leading to your room. Before leaving the hotel, return the key to the concierge.

Outside, there is a newsstand and a street scale. The latter serves two purposes. One of them is an easy way to make money. You currently have five coins. To have at least a dozen, take a couple of coins from the scale, using the antenna torn from the hotel TV. Then, buy three items from the newspaper agent: "New Pravda," "Capital," and "The Encyclopedia of Opera," and read them. In the newspapers, you'll find freebies: a ticket to the KGB studio, a postage stamp, and a cassette of "Traviata" performed by Natasha Rampilova. Insert the cassette into the tape recorder, stick the stamp on the envelope, and focus your eyes on the ticket once again.

It turns out that to be invited to the show, you need to answer three questions on the ticket:

Question 1: How many letters 'r' are on the can of Dostoevsky's caviar?

Go to Red Square. You'll see a long line to the supermarket. Talk to the bearded man standing first. Bargain with him. He'll buy you caviar on the condition that you get him toilet paper. Now head to Gorky Park. In one of the alleys, you'll meet a fence-seller. Ask him about toilet paper. He'll tell you that he indeed has it but is willing to sell it to you for a round hundred coins. Since you can't get that much from the scale, you need to find another way.

In the alley by the fountain sits a little boy on a bench playing "Wall Street Fighter IV" on a Trotsky console. Exchange with him by offering him your laptop. After some minor resistance, the boy will agree to this transaction.

Now take a look at the console, and you'll be able to take out the game cartridge from it. Go to the train station and use it on the ATM. You'll find out that a hundred coins will be dispensed to you.

Now go to the fence-seller for the toilet paper, and with it, to the old man in line, who will gladly exchange it for caviar now.

It turns out there are no 'r' letters on it at all.

Question 2: What is the height, expressed in cans of vodka-cola, of the Karl Marx monument standing on Red Square?

Approach the Japanese man in the square and talk to him. You'll agree for him to take a photo of you with the monument in the background. After the conversation, just give him your camera. After three attempts (first he forgets to remove the lens cap, then the photo will show a close-up of his thumb, and finally the image will be blurry), it turns out that there is no film in your camera. So you need to get it somehow because you care about this picture. Go to MacRomanov's bar in front of Gorky Park. Buy a can of drink there. Your choice won't be too wide as only vodka-cola is available there. In one of the cars nearby, you'll find a broken camera. The only good part of it will be a new film, which you'll reload into your camera.

Now go back to the square and hand the camera to the Japanese man. After receiving a few tips, he'll finally take the right picture. When you look at it, you'll notice that Karl is twice as tall as you. When you measure the can of vodka-cola and compare it to your height, and then to the monument's height, you'll know the answer.

Question 3: How much does the Great Bear hamburger weigh?

This task is simple. Go to MacRomanov's and buy the appropriate bun. After consuming it, step on the scale and make proper use of it.

Now all that's left is to fill out and send the ticket. Go to the Ritz and ask the concierge for a pen. Then fill out the ticket, put it in the envelope, and address the letter. Now go to the KGB studio and drop it into the mailbox. Then return to the concierge and ask for the letters for you. You'll receive an invitation to the "Russian Doli Party" there.

Go to the studio. Take out the invitation from the received envelope and give it to the secretary. She'll give you a badge that will allow you to enter the studio. Before going there, take the note from the lady right under your nose.

Once there, you'll participate in a contest similar to the "Great Game." To win, you must answer the questions successively: The Pink Panther, Robin Hood, and The Thieving Magpie.

Then you'll have a choice of one of three final questions. One of the answers is "There weren't any." If you choose differently, Doug will automatically give the correct answer. The main prize is a hot air balloon. Before leaving the studio, take the lamps from it.

Now head to your apartment and enter the bathroom. There you'll activate your prize. With the balloon, land on the museum roof, from which you'll rappel down to the room with various exhibits. When you play the Rampilova cassette there, two showcases will crack, and you'll be able to take out the ZX-81 computer and a diamond ring from them. With these, go to the adjacent room with the crown. Aim the lamps at the photocells, and then turn them on. Now, cut a hole in the armored showcase with the diamond, and the crown is almost yours.

Almost, until the entrance of the second thief, Basil Karmazov. The thug snatches your crown and pushes you, triggering the alarm system and getting you photographed. The next shot is in your room. You realize that your face is in every newspaper. So you must get out of the city as soon as possible.

Go to MacRomanov's. There you'll meet your friends, Alex and Kos. They'll propose stealing the source code for a new Trotsky console game. In return, you'll get a fake passport.

Return to your apartment. There, connect the remote to the tape recorder, creating an impedance adapter. Then connect it to the ZX-81 and the terminal with the phone. Now, just take a look at the network code, written on the note you took earlier, and the game will be recorded on tape. Give it to Alex or Kos, and in return, you'll get the passport. Now go to the station and talk to the policeman. After customs clearance, enter the Orient Express.

PART TWO

You embody Dino. His adventure begins while sitting alone on the dock of Pesjakov Harbor. It's a small port on the White Sea. Suddenly, a drunkard approaches him. Dino tells him his story of how he got lost on land and didn't make it back to his ship, the "Potemkin," in time. Comforting the giant, the drunkard gives him a lucky music box. At this moment, you become the helm, sail, and ship for Dino.

Talk to the guy with the music box. He'll tell you that his head is pounding after last night, so he won't talk to you. Take the rope from the dock and go to the tavern under the Drunken Whale. Take an empty mug from the table where an old sea wolf sits. Now, approach the bar. There's a price list of wines hanging on the post. Look at it and remember the most expensive item. Show the bartender the empty mug and ask him to fill it with water. Then order from him the most valuable drink he has. When he goes down to the cellar to fetch it, remove the sawfish from above the door.

Now head to the circus square. Talk to Zelda. The gypsy will want to persuade you to use her fortune-telling services. However, keep insisting that you don't believe in such things until she agrees to do it for free. When you enter her carriage and she finishes predicting your past, present, or future, she'll go to rest.

Take advantage of this and take the water purification device. Then, remove the bottle of invisible ink from the shelf and pour it over the rope. You'll also find a headache remedy potion there. The bottle will be empty, but luckily, the recipe for making this potion will be written on it.

Take the extract from lizard tails and garlic bulb, and then add these ingredients to the mug of water. This way, you'll get a headache relief potion. Now go outside and approach the end of the circus tent. There's a barrel of rainwater. Take it and use the rope soaked in ink on it. This way, you'll write the word 'RUM' on the barrel. Near you stands a stall where a fakir swallows knives. Offer him the sawfish. In exchange for borrowing it, the guy will show you his number for free. However, something won't work out for him, so take the two swords hanging on the front wall of the booth.

Now go to the crossroads, and from there to the frozen river. Drill a hole in the ice with the white weapon. Now, take a broomstick from the snowman and attach the water purifier to it. With this prepared fishing rod, catch a fish in the ice hole.

Now go back to the dock. Throw the fish to the cat. Busy with enjoying its treat, it will let you catch it. Offer the headache potion to the drunkard. Now he'll gladly talk to you. Ask him about the chest he's sitting on. He'll give it to you for a barrel of rum. So, give him the barrel of rainwater and take the chest.

Go to the tavern and show the cat to the dog lying there. After a while, the tavern will be slightly demolished. The bartender will want to shoot the dog, but in the end, he'll give it to Dino. From that moment on, the lucky one will follow you everywhere.

Go with him to the river. There, use the chest and two swords to make a sleigh and lay it on the ice. The dog will pull you to the nearby town.

Before entering the train station, there's a poster of some politician on the wall. Tear it off and enter the station. On the platform will stand a woman with her bodyguard. He won't let you talk to his employer.

Go to the baggage room and show the torn poster to the gorilla in the cage. To scare you away, it will throw a banana at you. Pick up the fruit and go to the platform with it. Consume it there. You'll discard the skin under the bodyguard's feet. Now try to talk to Miss Molotov. Her gorilla will get angry and charge at you with the intention of breaking your bones.

Unfortunately, it will slip on the discarded skin. Now talk to the woman. She'll offer you a trip to Venice as her new bodyguard. Then board the Orient Express with her.

PART THREE

Bolshoi, the famous Moscow theater, is packed. People from high society have flocked here to admire Donna Fatal – the star touring Eastern countries. After the performance, a certain individual approached her, introducing himself as the wealthiest landowner in all of Georgia, and offered the artist to accompany him on the journey to Venice. The next day, they met at the station. Riri, as he was called, was carrying some kind of coffin – he bought it for a million coins from the Kremlin.

Both boarded the Orient Express. Now you embody the singer. Leave your compartment and head towards the bar where you'll see Alex and Kos. When you talk to them, they'll start blackmailing you with funny photos from the past. They'll give Donna the negatives and prints when she delivers a microfilm showing the latest microprocessor for consoles. It's being transported by Betty Molotova, the mafia boss's wife.

Go to room number three. There you'll meet Doug. Ask him for help and follow him to compartment number 10. Dino will open it for you. You'll recognize each other as old friends from Tokyo. After the conversation, you'll start controlling the giant.

Enter room number 11 and take the bottle from the table. Now go to the second room and talk to Miss Molotova. She'll remind you to bring her coffee. Go get it from the bar and return with it. Speak to the woman again. While handing her the coffee, you'll spill it on her fur. Irritated, she'll go to the restroom and tell you she plans to go to the bar to play cards with someone.

Leave the compartment and give the bottle to Doug. Then return to the cabin and enter the restroom. You'll find a ring there – also give it to Doug. Talk to him and ask him to take care of himself now.

Now go back to your compartment with the ring and give it to Donna along with sleeping drops.

Now you embody Donna.

Open the ring, and you'll find a microfilm inside. Go to the bar with it and give it to the blackmailers, and they'll return the compromising photos to you. Now return to compartment number 3.

As Doug, go to the corridor. The conductor is standing in front of your cabin. He's holding a bunch of keys that may fit the locked luggage car. When you talk to him, he'll ask you for a cigarette. Go to the bar with it and ask Alex and Kos for a cigarette. They'll sell you one for a hundred.

Now as Donna, go to Riri's compartment and ask him for pocket money. When you receive it, return to compartment number 3.

As Doug, ask your girlfriend for cash. Pay Alex and Kos and take one joint from them. Give it to the conductor. But this time he won't have a lighter. The matter will be simpler this time. Go to the car behind the bar and ask Maurice sitting there for a lighter. He'll gladly give you one of the ten he has. Now give it to the conductor. He'll light the joint and inhale it, having a detrimental effect on him. You'll now be able to calmly take the keys from him.

While in the bar, you noticed your acquaintance from the museum sitting there. You concluded that if he's here, the crown must be here too. To retrieve it, now embody Donna.

Go to the bar with her and speak flirtatiously to the thief sitting there. The next shot will be in his compartment. Pour sleeping drops into the champagne. After this procedure, the host will immediately fall asleep. Take the sheet from his bed, open the cabinet, and examine his shirt. Give the sheet to Doug.

This time as Doug, go to the car with Maurice and open the door there. Once on the roof, head towards the coal car. When you find yourself on the luggage car, use the sheets on its door and climb down on them. Now unlock the door with the key, and you'll find yourself inside. Try to open the trunk lying there. It will have a digital lock. So, unlock the door lock and go get help from Donna. While controlling Donna, talk to Doug. Tell him that the thief's shirt had the number 653 on it. Return with Doug to the baggage car and open the trunk. In it, as expected, was the crown.

PART FOUR

Suddenly, the train started to brake violently. Two armed bandits led the passengers outside, while others took Riri's coffin. The bandits introduced themselves as Harpo and Groucho. They said they were servants of Dr. Virago. Before leaving, they remembered that their master asked for a virgin. Without hesitation, they abducted Donna.

This time you embody Dino and Doug. Your goal is to rescue Donna. Follow the villains onto the snowy steppe. Go left twice and then down.

You'll come across a ruined bridge, beyond which lies a village. Try to pick up a stone with Doug and throw it into the water. Doug will realize it's not his job and ask Dino to do it. Have Dino throw all the rocks into the stream one by one. Once you're on the other side, head towards the village.

You'll notice Zeldy's gypsy cart standing there. Enter it. The fortune-teller will welcome the guests and say she'll help them. However, they must provide her with the necessary ingredients to make a magic potion. These include skeleton bones, bat wings, sunflower seeds, and a lion's tooth.

When you go outside, gather all the icicles hanging from nearby cottages. Take the lamp from there too. Across the street, there's a barrel of rainwater. The water is channeled into it by a gutter. Take the gutter with Dino and go to the cemetery.

From the ground, pick up an empty bottle and fill it with the alcohol from the lamp. Give the resulting alcohol to the gravedigger. After clearing his throat, he'll tell you that Dr. Virago has his villa in the middle of the nearby woods. He believes he can resurrect the dead.

After the conversation, take the bones lying near the dug grave. Now head towards the church. With Dino, remove the sheet covering the beams lying under the wall. Sitting nearby, turn on the music box for the old man. It will remind him of a lullaby from his childhood, and he'll fall asleep. At this point, you can take off his glasses.

With Doug, pick up the stone lying under the tower. Then use the icicles that were previously torn off to climb the wall. Now you can climb up. Throw the lifted stone at the bell. This will scare the bat out of its hiding place. Using Doug, catch it in the sheet. Then connect the gutter with the glasses and use the resulting telescope to look around. Among other things, you'll see the path to Dr. Virago's villa. Climb down from the tower and head into the forest.

In one of the trees, you'll see a hole. Upon closer inspection, you'll find it's a squirrel's nest. Take the sunflower seeds from it. Now go to the house in the clearing.

Besides the sleeping guard, two stone lions guard the gates. Tear a fang from one of them. Now you have all the necessary ingredients. Go to Zeldy and hand over the ingredients.

With the potion ready, go back to the villa. Doug will drink the potion and transform into a bat. Now you'll embody the imprisoned Donna. She'll be escorted to her room by Dr. Virago himself. The exit will be guarded by a soldier. Take the perfume from the table. Then tear apart the pillow lying on the bed and take a peacock feather. Now look at the ceiling. You'll see a hatch there. Climb through it to the attic. There, take a vinyl record, a stuffed crow, and chloroform. Go downstairs and add the chloroform to the perfume.

Next, spray the guard standing in front of the door with the contents of the flask. Go downstairs and enter the room. Try to take the bust from there. It will fall off the pedestal and break. Take one of the plaster shards lying on the floor. Also, pick up the pot from the ground, and take the fruits from the table. Go to Dr. Virago's study, also located on the ground floor. In the library, you'll find a book, read it.

Look at the clock pendulum. You'll see iron shavings on it. Pick them up. From the desk, take a fountain pen and Dr. Virago's diary. You'll read the recipe for a resurrection potion in it. Look at the eye of the skeleton standing against the wall. Remove the key from there and use it to open the cabinet. Take out the jar with bat wings – throw them into the ashtray. Also, put the fruits and feather from the pillow in there. Suck the resulting potion into the fountain pen. Now return to your room.

Open the window and drop the pot on the guard. Then go to the attic. Draw a secret sign on the floor with the help of the clay shard. Inject the crow with the contents of the fountain pen and place it in the drawn circle. Sprinkle the record with magnetized shavings and play it in the adapter. The induced current will electrify the bird, bringing it to life.

Now look into Dr. Virago's bedroom. It's next to the room where you were imprisoned. Ask the animated bird to bring you the keys lying near Dr. Virago's bed.

Now you can open the front door.
